Esmeralda Hernandez
Graduate Student Research Assistant

Esmeralda grew up in central California and is a doctoral student in Public Policy and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan’s Center for Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.  Prior to moving to Ann Arbor to join the doctoral program, she was a student at the University of California, Irvine, where she received her BA in Political Science in 2012.  During her undergraduate career she engaged in student outreach and student resources as well as research on Latina/o students and educational outcomes.  Her current research interests include understanding and improving access to higher education for underserved and underrepresented populations.  In her spare time Esmeralda enjoys spending time Skyping with her family in California, dancing, and cooking vegan friendly foods.
