From 2002 to 2005, the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good, along with the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), American Association for Higher Education (AAHE), American Educational Research Association (AERA), Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), and American College Personnel Association (ACPA), sponsored up to five awards for pre-tenured faculty, early career practitioners, and advanced graduate students in any discipline in U.S. higher education institutions who engaged in research that explores higher education’s role in serving the public good.
The National Forum made award selections with a national steering committee comprised of representatives from the five sponsoring national associations.
An award of $3,000 was made to individuals in order to support outstanding research and encourage publication. Additionally, award recipients received support for the following:
All recipients hold a doctorate (no more than 5 years post-degree) or were at the dissertation stage of their doctoral studies; they were also affiliated with a U.S. higher educational institution.
