Community Change and Partnership

Higher education serves the public good in many forms, but perhaps most important for universities is work with the communities in their own backyard. In this section we present our work with community members along with faculty, students, and administrators throughout the University of Michigan doing work to support community growth and capacity building.

Immigration and Higher Education

To nurture awareness and understanding within the education professions, among selected advocacy groups, and among members of policy circles about the connections between immigration and access to higher education through the development and documentation of a series of national conferences.

Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Project

To provide research to support a workforce-based initiative aimed at the revitalization of Michigan and the Great Lakes region.

Leveraging Our Communities for Adult Learners (LOCAL) Project

This project is aimed at improving the resources for adult learners in the state of Michigan through informing the Office of the Governor and local city community foundations on the characteristics and attitudes of this group.
