I have been working in higher education since 1994. I began my career in a private 4 year college working in financial aid. I transitioned to a community college in 2005 and have been working as the Bursar of the Cashier's Office since 2012. Although my direct experience is in Student Services, I've been fortunate to work with Academic Affairs on numerous occasions through collaborative committees and special projects focusing on student academic success and achievement. I hold a Bachelors in Accounting and a MBA in Leadership Studies. I have four children 25-18 years of age and two grandchildren ages 4 and 0 (due date of August 2017).
Associate Professor Berea College
Javier Clavere, is an award winning performer and scholar that crosses over the worlds of piano performance, music theory, music technology, and sacred music. As a polymath his research interests includes musical semiotics, sacred music and signs, popular music and semiotics, and the semiotics of educational processes. His research in educational leadership includes peace and conflict resolution-transformation through the arts, as well as leadership in systemic change, system theory, and diversity and inclusion. Currently he is the executive director of the Semiotic Society of America.
He has performed in many prestigious concert series across the United States, South America and Europe performing with orchestras, in solo recitals and chamber music. He was privileged to perform on Vladimir Horowitz’s piano featuring the famed pianist’s instrument, organized by Steinway and Sons. He was artist in residence of the Utah Arts Council Performing Arts Tour. In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, he was the soloist for the Opening gala of the Symphony of the Americas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He also appeared as soloist with the Fairfield Symphony Orchestra, James Madison University Symphony Orchestra, Rosario State Philharmonic, and Rosario Chamber Orchestra. A consistent prizewinner, he has both participated and won prizes in the Los Angeles Franz Liszt International Piano Competition, International Utah Mozart Festival, Palm Beach Invitational International Piano Competition.
Kristine A. Siefert Collegiate Professor of Social Work University of Michigan
Jorge Delva, a native of Chile, conducts research focusing on addressing and reducing health disparities and helping improve the lives of low-income and racial and ethnic minority populations. His research began in Honolulu two decades ago where he worked on SAMHSA-funded projects aimed at improving the health and mental health of Asian and Pacific Islander children and their families. His work has served to advance the substance abuse field’s understanding of psychosocial-cultural mechanisms associated with substance using behaviors among Hispanic/Latino, African American, and American Indians of lower socio-economic position in the United States and with disadvantaged populations in Latin America.
Assistant Dean of Students University of Wisconsin - Parkside
Damian J. Evans, M.S., serves as Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, as well as an adjunct instructor for the Ethnic Studies department for the University of Wisconsin Parkside. Evans earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Communication from the University of Wisconsin Parkside and a Master of Science in Student Personnel Administration from Concordia University of Wisconsin. As a practitioner Evans’ efforts addresses the disparities often referred to as the “achievement gap”. Evans is a 2007-2008 UW Parkside Advising Excellence Award recipient, a 2014-2015 UW Parkside Diversity Award recipient and UW Parkside Stella Gray Teaching Award Nominee and is also the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Service Award. More recently, Evans authored a chapter in the book titled: Diversity in the College Classrooms: Knowing Ourselves; Our Students & Our Disciplines. In addition, Evans co-authored a chapter in an upcoming book titled Advancing Equity and Diversity in Student Affairs: A Festschrift in Honor of Melvin C. Terrell. Also, Evans has served as a mentor for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) Student Development Leadership Program (SLDP).
Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion St. Lawrence University
Dr. Kimberly Flint-Hamilton was recently appointed as Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Dr. Flint-Hamilton earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame with majors in Biology and Classical Studies, and her PhD in Classics from Duke University. She spent 17 years as Professor of Anthropology at Stetson University in central Florida, and taught courses focusing on social inequality in the ancient and modern world. At Stetson, she served on the President's Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion, she chaired the Diversity Council, and she also chaired the ALANA-IA Faculty Caucus - an organization that supports and mentors faculty of difference and their allies.
John Foster, III
Director of the Center for Diversity, Interfaith, and Inclusion Education Coker College
John Foster, III served as the Director for the Center of Diversity, Interfaith, and Inclusion Education at Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. At Coker College he was an Associate Professor of Religion, and he has offered courses in the Department of Language and Literatures, specifically World Literature and African American Literature. Prior to accepting his faculty appointment a Coker College, John was a public school educator in his hometown of Bennettsville, South Carolina. He was active in grassroots movements, and he served on the City Council of Bennettsville, South Carolina. John served as the deacon for St.Matthew's Church in the Diocese of South Carolina. He attended the University of South Carolina, and he earned a BA English and the M.Ed. in Secondary Education, concentration in English. He has received two awards for outstanding teaching, Teacher of the Year, Marlboro County Public Schools, Master Professor Coker College. He participated in the Teaching Interfaith Understanding Seminar held at Boston College, Summer 2015.
Assistant Professor California State University, San Bernardino
Dr. Liliana Gallegos is a Multimedia Artist, Musician, Radio Show Host/DJ and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at CSUSB. A specialist in digital media, transdisciplinarity, video games, race & gender representation, the presence and influence of Latinos in US mass media, and experimental methods of pedagogy, Gallegos has a PhD from UC Santa Barbara in Hispanic Languages and Literatures with an informal emphasis on Media Studies, Arts and Technology. She has a Masters in Border Literature from SDSU and a Rhetoric and Writing B.A. from UC Berkeley. Gallegos has studied and taught in universities around the world such as, Universidad Nacional Autónoma of Mexico City, Universidad de Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, Spain, Universidade Estácio de Sá in Río de Janeiro, Brazil and Seoul University in South Korea. She has presented her research on the complex implications between transmedia representation, technology and pedagogy internationally in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Paris, France, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Her most recent research projects in music technology, transmedia story-telling, and community building through pedagogical experimentation led to the formation and advising of two student run organizations:
The Transcultural Commons Collective: a group that seeks to rescue hidden history of Native Americans and Native Mexicans in the United States by conducting interviews and researching journalist archives and then translating this information to new media and multimedia formats (theatre pieces, art expositions, radio shows, live blogs, digital narratives, and mini-documentaries).
Mass Productions Collective: a digital multimedia music group which purpose is to collaborate and network with other music tech/audio/film organizations and gain knowledge to prepare students within multiple formats of musical experimentation as it relates to diverse disciplines. We are currently beginning a bridge program with Tijuana-based and international multimedia musicians and artists; giving workshops and performing both in San Bernardino and Tijuana.
Assitant Dean for Budget and Finance New Mexico State University
Dr. Juanita Hannan is the Assistant Dean for Budget and Finance in the College of Education at New Mexico State University. She has been with the College for fourteen years. During this time she has assisted in the development and continuation of the different distance education programs in the College, she has directed the Research and Budgeting Office and currently serves as chief budget and finance affairs officer for the College.
Dr. Hannan has a BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering from the Technological Institute of Cd. Juárez and a Ph. D. from New Mexico State University. Her experience in higher education includes the Technological Institute of Cd. Juárez, the Autonomous University of Cd. Juárez, and New Mexico State University, where she has taught face to face, online and hybrid courses. In her current position Dr. Hannan is a valued member of the College of Education providing outstanding service and support to students and faculty. Juanita Hannan lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Director - The Bob and Aleicia Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion Grand Rapids Community College
Domingo Hernández-Gómez serves as the Director of The Bob and Aleicia Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). In this role he oversees several initiatives related to access, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Before assuming his current role, Domingo served as the Associate Director of the College Success Center at GRCC from 2012 to 2016, overseeing the implementation of student success initiatives for developmental education students. Prior to joining Grand Rapids Community College, Domingo spent five years in secondary education within the Holland Public Schools district in Michigan, serving as the Director of Adult Education and as a student and family advisor prior to that. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from México and a Master’s degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University.
Senior Admissions Counselor University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Reuben Kapp is a Senior Admissions Counselor at the University of Michigan and a part-time Masters student at the University of Michigan's Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (CSHPE). He is involved with the University of Michigan's new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategic Plan, serving as a DEI Implementation Lead for his unit. Prior to his role in admissions, Reuben worked in Washington D.C. in a few capacities. This included a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Public Policy Fellowship with placements in the U.S. State Department and the U.S. House of Representatives. He also worked in campaign fundraising soon after. Currently, he advises many Latinx undergraduate students and is primarily interested in higher education access for low income and first generation students. Reuben earned his BA in Public Policy from the University of Michigan.

Sharon Lalla is VP of Academics at Luna Community College. She received her doctorate in Educational Technology and Leadership from Pepperdine University in 2007. Her expertise includes leading educators and programs; Planning and administering programs/projects with attention to quality; and mentoring faculty who wish to implement distance education courses and universal design principles for all students.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion University of California, Riverside
Mariam B. Lam joined the University of California, Riverside as faculty in 2002 after twelve years of education at UC Irvine. As an Executive Council member and Vice Chair of the Academic Senate, she co-chaired the Assessment Advisory Steering Committee, and served on the Change Management Systems Committee and the Summer Sessions Administrative Advisory Committee (2014-2016). Prior to that position, she served on the Committee on Committees from 2011-2014, serving as Chair and systemwide representative at the UCOC from 2012-2014. From 2009-2011, she was a College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) Executive Committee Member, while also serving as Director of Graduate Studies for the Southeast Asian Studies Research Program (SEATRiP), later stepping into the role of Director in 2011-2016. In her role as Director of Southeast Asian Studies, she oversaw the graduate program, two undergraduate minors, language program offerings, and summer sessions courses. Through interdepartmental partnerships and collaboration with Graduate Division, she built MA/PhD tracks for graduate programs leading from a Master’s Degree in Southeast Asian Studies directly into PhD Degrees in Anthropology, Comparative Literature, Ethnic Studies and History. Lam currently serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion, and is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature and Cooperating Faculty in Ethnic Studies. Her research centers on Southeast Asian and Asian American literatures, arts and cultures, postcolonial criticism, diaspora and globalization, gender and sexuality, translation, tourism, community politics, media and educational development, trauma, minoritization and multiculturalism, and academic disciplinarity. She was co-founding co-editor of the Journal of Vietnamese Studies published by the University of California Press (2005-2016), a founding and standing Editorial Board Member of BOOM: A Journal of California, also for UC Press, and President of the Riverside Asian American Community Association (RAACA). She has co-edited Vietnamese Americans: Lessons in American History (2001) and its second edition in 2004. Her forthcoming monograph Not Coming to Terms: Viet Nam, Archival Trauma and Strategic Affect is under contract at Duke UP, and her in-progress editorial anthologies include Undercurrents: Southeast Asian Transnational and Diasporic Cultures (Brill Pubs) and Queer Viet Nam: Art, Activism and Artifice (HKUP).
Instructional Designer California State University, Long Beach
Jennifer is a native to Southern California and has worked in higher education for 8 years. Here positions include academic advising, registrar evaluation and instructional design. Her love for education begin in high school when offered and opportunity to participate in a program called Puente, which helped her achieve her dream to go to college. In college she served as a representative for Associated Student Council, and various other student organizations.
She earned a BA from San Diego State University (SDSU) in Comparative Literature, a Technical Writing Certificate, and a MA in Educational Technology from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). In her free time she enjoys finding new restaurants, museums and hanging out with her dog, Bailey.
She currently works at CSULB as an Instructional Designer, in the Academic Technology Services Center and lives in Anaheim, California.
Professor and Executive Editor California State University, Sacramento
Dr. Carlos Nevarez, received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. He now serves as Professor in Educational Leadership and is the Executive Editor for the Journal of Transformative Leadership and Policy Studies at Sacramento State. His research findings inform the development of new pedagogies and applied models that not only facilitate, but also nurture innovative leadership and productive change. Dr. Nevarez has co-authored three books on community college leadership and is currently working on a fourth book with an emphasis on developing an institutional change model.
Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Retention Del Mar College
Diana Ortega-Feerick joined Del Mar College (DMC) in 2012, and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and Retention, with an oversight for, Student Conduct, Behavior Intervention Team, and Title IX Implementation Team. Ortega-Feerick has nearly 10 years of experience in the field of K-12 and 10 years in the area of higher education. She also has 11 years of administrative and management experience in the non-profit and for-profit sectors in business and education industry, where she served as an Executive Director, Director of Education, Crisis Supervisor, and Lead School Psychologist.
Her array of professional experience, passion, and commitment to students has allowed her to develop the integrated skills and aptitude to be a successful administrator. Throughout her professional career, she has remained committed to building a culture of access, inclusion, and success for underrepresented students at both the non-profit and for-profit sectors of post-secondary education.
A South Texas native and first-generation college student, Ortega-Feerick is currently working on her Ed.D in Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. She has Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from St. Edward’s University.
Serving as a bridge between the local agencies that serve underrepresented populations and Del Mar College, Ortega-Feerick currently serves on the boards of the Corpus Christi City Council Committee for Persons with Disabilities, the Coastal Bend Texas Diversity Council, and the Junior League of Corpus Christi, among other community involvement.
Professor University of Michigan Medical School
Malini Raghavan was born in New Delhi, India and her early education was in India and Zambia. Malini completed her high school in 1979 at Kabwe secondary school, Kabwe, Zambia. In 1983, Malini obtained a BS in Chemistry from Women's Christian College in Chennai, India. In 1985, Malini obtained a MS in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. She came to the United States later in 1985, to start her PhD work at Princeton University. Her PhD dissertation was performed under the guidance of Professor Clarence Schutt, and related to biochemical studies of an actin methyltransferase. Malini obtained her PhD in 1991, and then went to the California Institute of Technology, to the laboratory of Professor Pamela Bjorkman for her postdoctoral training. There she studied receptors that allow for immunity transfer from mothers to babies. Malini was recruited to the University of Michigan Medical School in 1996, and rose through the ranks to become Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in 2010. Her lab studies how immune cells recognize the presence of virus infections and cancers. For her research work, Malini has received a number of grants from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association and the Cancer Research Institute. She has served extensively on scientific review panels of the National Institutes of Health, and other national and international scientific review organizations. At the University of Michigan Medical School, Malini has served on dissertation committees of 30 PhD students, and trained undergraduate & graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in laboratory research. She has directed or taught graduate, undergraduate and medical student courses in immunology and infectious disease, initiated curriculum modifications that are responsive to changing student bodies, and led scientific ethics-related discussions in classes locally and internationally. At the Medical School and at the University of Michigan, Malini has served on a number of committees, including the advisory committee for faculty appointments, promotions and tenure. She has served as a unit planning lead for diversity, equity and inclusion for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School. She is strongly committed to academic practices that improve diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels.

Marie-Michelle Rosemond, Ph.D. celebrates 20 years of Higher Education Administration in 2017. I serve as the Enrollment and Recruitment Manager at the University of Louisville. Prior to my appointment at the College of Education and Human Development, I worked as an Administrator and Lecturer at the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Within these roles I serve as a nexus between Student and Academic Affairs seeking ways to improve the wellbeing of students, staff, and faculty. Since organizational development and learning development are central to my work, I have had the opportunity to conduct office wide-assessment to organize strategic enrollment pathways for four degree program areas. I collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align university resources to improve the consistency of services.
During my many years of service in Higher Education Administration, it has been a joy to serve as mentor new and seasoned professionals seeking insights about promotional advancement. Because I am proficient a building rapport with new and old colleagues, I have received many awards. However, the award that means the most to me is the College of Literature Science, and the Arts Spotlight Award. Students, colleagues and faculty repeatedly recognized me for various initiatives, creativity, energy and enthusiasm for affecting their lives in a positive manner and transforming ideas into practice and policy.
I completed my graduate studies at Eastern Michigan University. I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership. I also completed a Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development. The knowledge from both frameworks support the intent for my work which bridges the gap between theory and practice. When I’m not working, I am the proud parent of Jaleel G. Rosemond, a first-year studying Sports Administration.
Diversity and Inclusion Specialist University of Michigan Library
I am the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist for the University of Michigan Library. In this role, I manage the library diversity strategic plan and serve in a consultant role for the 485 employees of the library. My career background in higher education has been predominately in student affairs. I have served as the director of campus recreation, assistant dean of students and assistant director of the office of equity and diversity.
