Currently, a third year PhD student/Research Assistant in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (CSHPE) at the University of Michigan. Richard obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University, and has worked across multiple higher education institutions, mainly in the state of Michigan, in various formal and informal roles. His professional, personal, and academic interests focus on issues of access and building success models for underrepresented communities, especially for Latinx students, inclusive of a commitment to intentional mentoring. As an avid sports enthusiast, he is particularly passionate about the cross-section of sports and politics.
